Doctor On Demand Offers $10 Video Visit Campaign for State of Texas

Leading on-demand video medicine provider Doctor On Demand today announced that it will offer video visits with US-trained, board-certified physicians for only $10 to consumers within the State of Texas, now through September 3rd. Access to healthcare in Texas - especially in rural areas - continues to prove challenging. Texas ranks 47th out of the 50 states for primary care physicians per capita and nearly 40% of the state’s primary care needs go unmet, with 35 of Texas’ 254 counties not having a single family physician and only 71.4 primary care professionals in place for every 100,000 people statewide. Texas is further characterized by a rural, low population density with limited physician access, and wait times that surpass the national average of 18 days to see a primary care physician.

“Texans know firsthand the hassle and pain associated with accessing timely and affordable care. Telemedicine gives consumers in Texas the opportunity to receive care on their own schedule from the comfort of home, no matter where they are, while simultaneously lowering the cost associated with seeing a doctor,” said Hill Ferguson, CEO of Doctor On Demand. “Doctor On Demand has saved over a half-billion dollars in healthcare costs through video visits and over one million hours that would have been spent in the waiting room. In today’s healthcare landscape we expect to see even greater telemedicine adoption to provide quality care to those who need it most.

As congressmen continue to debate over healthcare reform, it is clear that the system must look to innovative solutions like telemedicine that provide more efficient and broad access to affordable care. Doctor On Demand provides fast, easy, and cost-effective video consultations with board-certified physicians, psychiatrists, and licensed psychologists via smartphone, tablet, or computer. The service is available for anyone to use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members can choose from an on-demand visit with wait times of less than 5 minutes, or schedule an appointment with a board-certified physician at a time most convenient to them.

“I'm so glad I used this app instead of wasting time in a waiting room. I waited less than 5 minutes, received great care, had my prescription sent to my pharmacy and I didn't have to leave my living room. It also cost less than if I went to the doctor's office. Probably the most useful app I've ever used!” said Ashley, a Doctor On Demand patient from Texas.

To access Doctor On Demand, download the app (iTunes or Google Play) or create an account on the website. Once registered, patients can enter code TEXAS10 until September 3rd to receive their medical visit at a cost of $10.
